Bahamas: Short-term Mission Trip
Lying to the north of Cuba and Hispaniola, the Bahamas comprises nearly 700 islands and cays, only about 30 of which are inhabited. These islands occupy a position commanding the gateway to the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, and the entire Central American region. The Bahamas is a distinctive blend of European and African heritages, the latter a legacy of the slave trade and the introduction of the plantation system. Beautiful beaches and breath-taking scenery span the landscape in this tropical paradise. While there is so much beauty here, this trip will draw you into a community with real needs that you can help meet.
On your mission trip to the Bahamas you will experience the warmth and hospitality of the Bahamian people, who are as anxious to interact with you and the mission team as we are to hear their stories and experience their culture first-hand. Once we arrive at the partnership community, the mission team will meet the host church pastor to be briefed on the needs of the community, the ministries that are currently happening, and how the team can make a lasting impact.
Whether you are a teacher, doctor, member of a professional organization, college student or someone looking to travel with friends and family, we can arrange a variety of projects such as teaching, medical treatment, orphanage help, evangelistic events, sports outreach, construction projects, and food/clothing distribution. Our staff will work with you to ensure that your unique gifts will be used to meet a real need while you are on the ground serving in the Bahamas.

Trip Cost – $1,895 per person
Application Deadline – Application must be received 120 days prior to departure date. A non-refundable deposit of $250 is required at the time of registration to reserve space on your trip. This deposit will be used to secure airline space for your mission trip. Registration fees are in U.S. dollars and can be paid by check, money order, or credit card. Payment can be made online, by phone or by mail. The deposit will be deducted from your trip cost.
Accommodations – The team will stay at the mission house complex. Team members will be split into one of several bedrooms. Sheets, pillows and towels are provided. There are also traditional style bathrooms with toilets, sinks, and showers. Team members will enjoy a mixture of typical Bahamian meals and American fare. Cooks take all necessary precautions when washing, preparing, and storing food. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions, allergies or special considerations. Bottled water will be available at the complex and at all points during the trip.
Airfare and In-Country Transportation – Our staff is committed to taking care of as many logistical details as possible, so you can focus on your MISSION. We coordinate all the airline travel booking and arrange all in-country transportation. The cost of your flight and in-country transportation is included in the total trip cost.
Passports and Visas – All Americans traveling abroad need a passport that is valid for at least six (6) months after the travel dates. The US Passport cards are not valid for air travel, nor are they valid for travel to and from your destination. Visa and processing are not included in the total trip cost.
Immunizations – Generally, travelers receive shots/medicine to prevent; malaria, typhoid, tetanus, Hepatitis. If applicable, obtain required shots and/or medication (ref: www.cdc.gov). Vaccination and immunization costs are not included in your total trip cost as you will have to obtain these at a medical facility where you live. If you have any questions or concerns about your immunizations, please contact your family physician before they are administered.
Insurance – Included in the mission trip cost is travel insurance which will assist you in your return to the U.S. should you become ill while traveling.
Payment Schedule – 50% of trip payment will be due 90 days prior to your departure. This money will be used to pay for your airline ticket and will be non-refundable. Full trip payment will be due 45 days prior to your departure. This money will be used to pay for your field costs while on the mission field (Lodging, food, transportation, supplies, etc.); and will be non-refundable.
Refunds: If you have paid for your trip with your own funds prior to the deadlines, then you may be eligible for a full refund, minus the deposit. Once the deadlines have passed there will be no refunds if airline tickets or money has been disbursed. If you have paid for your trip with sponsor money or donations,then you will not be eligible for a refund.
