Worship Me!

. . . saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” – Matthew 2:2

The first item found on the Lord’s Christmas list, based on Matthew Chapter 2, is that He wants people to diligently seek Him. The second item on the Lord’s Christmas list is also suggested here. That is, He wants people to sincerely worship Him.

The Wise Men travelled from the East and diligently sought Him. However, they were not on a sightseeing trip. This was not just a box to be checked off on their bucket list. Indeed, they did not come all the way to Bethlehem to request anything of Him. Once they realized that He had been born, they made their way to His manger side to worship Him.

They conversed with King Herod on the way, but they came to worship Him. They held court with a few High Priests, but they came to worship Him. They met His mother Mary, but they came to worship Him. They admired the integrity of His father Joseph, but they came to worship Him. They sat alongside the shepherds, but they came to worship Him.

Christmas then and Christmas now includes many characters. Each has a pivotal role, Still, the story centers around the blessed baby Jesus and He alone should be worshiped. By all means, give credit to the many people in your life who deserve to be thanked. However, whatever you do this year, don’t forget to worship the One who made it all possible.
