DESCRIPTION:Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling to be in mission and reaching out in mission locally and globally. Regardless of where we are in our spiritual journey\, as Christians\, we are privileged and at the same time expected to be active participants in God’s mission work in the world. Whether young or aged\, rich are poor\, man or woman\, lay or clergy\, we are called by God to serve. \nWe may understand a Biblical call to service and mission\, but where are we supposed to serve? Surely\, we can’t all serve as cross-cultural missionaries and move to other countries to share the gospel\, right? Although the term missionary refers to “one who is sent\,” typically overseas\, there are many ways in which believers can participate in and support missions even if they are not going themselves. In this forum participants will discuss several ministry platforms to take part in God’s mission to the world.

DESCRIPTION:As pillars of excellence\, leadership\, and service\, Black sororities and fraternities have long stood as champions of empowerment\, advocacy\, and collective uplift within communities locally and globally. Rooted in a shared legacy of resilience and social responsibility\, these organizations have consistently leveraged scholarship\, service\, and civic engagement to address critical needs\, dismantle barriers\, and create pathways for opportunity. Through decades of philanthropic initiatives—ranging from education and health advocacy to economic empowerment and social justice—the Divine Nine has demonstrated the transformative power of unity\, purpose\, and action. It is in this enduring spirit of service and brotherhood/sisterhood that we invite Black sororities and fraternities to harness their collective influence\, resources\, and leadership to extend their impact beyond borders. By engaging in meaningful partnerships and mission-driven efforts in the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa\, Black sororities and fraternities can help address pressing challenges\, strengthen communities\, and ignite sustainable\, purposeful change that honors their legacy while shaping a more hopeful future for generations to come. \nPlease make plans to attend and invite other “Divine IX” members to join in on the conversation. The goal of this discussion is to produce actionable outcomes: education\, food\, shelter for children; clean water\, sanitation and hygiene projects; medicines and surgical supplies for clinics and health post; and other initiatives that bring hope and restored dignity to individuals and communities throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. SUMMARY:Short-Term Missions: Developing an Effective and Sustainable Program in the Local Church
DESCRIPTION:Increasing numbers of churches\, schools\, and Christian ministries are sending out teams to foreign countries for brief trips. Without proper oversight these may become little more than sightseeing excursions. This course seeks to help the local church develop an effective and sustainable foreign mission’s program. The content focuses on determining proper objectives\, training team members\, raising funds\, arranging logistical matters\, and implementing components into a successful outreach. The outcome will be an effective and sustainable short-term missionary program for the local church that will accomplish meaningful on-field ministry and provide participating members with a heightened awareness of foreign missionary work and an increased burden to support it faithfully.
