Rich with African heritage, Ghana is home to some of the friendliest people on the planet. One would never know that these precious people once bore the brutality of colonization and endured the enslaving of their own. The people of Ghana have overcome historical hurdles such as the slave trade and colonization to become a thriving, independent country. With its welcoming beaches, vibrant cities, and easy transport, it’s no wonder Ghana is sometimes labelled ‘Africa for beginners’. Despite progress made since the 90s in reducing the poverty rate, 10% of Ghanaians are still desperately poor. Poverty alleviation has slowed in the past decade, and those living in rural areas are most affected, especially children. Although a large percentage of Ghana’s 30 million people are nominally Christian, prosperity gospel teachers have also gained influence, and numerous cults have arisen with distinct appeal and just enough truth to create confusion and syncretism. Come and work alongside local pastors who are passionate about investing in their communities. The opportunities to make a real and tangible impact are endless.

While on the ground serving in Ghana you can worship alongside a local church and participate by providing music, sermons, short-exhortations, teaching, testimonies, or help lead Sunday School or VBS. Provide medical services and support to the community and healthcare system as well as nutrition awareness and general counseling on health issues. Lead devotions, tutor students, observe classes, help teachers with arts and crafts, games, storytelling, singing or participate in recess. Use sports or group games for building relationships and sharing the gospel; or work alongside a local builder on various projects from painting, roofing, cement work, tiling, landscaping or whatever projects are needed in the community.

Whether you are a college student, teacher, doctor, member of a professional organization or someone looking to travel with friends and family our staff will work with you to ensure that your unique gifts will be used to meet a real need while you are on the ground serving in Ghana.
