When Christopher Columbus first landed on the shores of Jamaica he wrote in his records, “It is the fairest island that eyes have beheld.” The description holds true today. In the waters of the Caribbean Sea lies the island of Jamaica with a magnificent landscape of white sand beaches, streaming rivers and cascading waterfalls. Jamaica’s warm and inviting culture makes this country a go-to place for travelers to explore and have adventures, while eating good food and meeting incredible people. Although this island is known for tourism and is considered to be a tropical paradise, many communities remain in need of basic necessities. Jamaica is the second poorest country in the Caribbean; a fact often overlooked by tourists. Just a few miles away from tourism destinations, villages are living in deep poverty. We partner with pastors and ministry leaders on the ground who are already doing the work to help meet the material and spiritual needs of their neighbors. You’ll be given a range of ministry opportunities to encourage and share the love of Jesus with people who need to be reminded that they are not alone.

While on the ground serving in Jamaica you can worship alongside a local church and participate by providing music, sermons, short-exhortations, teaching, testimonies, or help lead Sunday School or VBS. Provide medical services and support to the community and healthcare system as well as nutrition awareness and general counseling on health issues. Lead devotions, tutor students, observe classes, help teachers with arts and crafts, games, storytelling, singing or participate in recess. Use sports or group games for building relationships and sharing the gospel; or work alongside a local builder on various projects from painting, roofing, cement work, tiling, landscaping or whatever projects are needed in the community.

Whether you are a college student, teacher, doctor, member of a professional organization or someone looking to travel with friends and family our staff will work with you to ensure that your unique gifts will be used to meet a real need while you are on the ground serving in Jamaica.
