And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb… – Luke 1: 31
Mary not only consented, she conceived. That is to say, just as the angel of God predicted, she conceived in her womb a child who was the Son of God. It goes without saying that Mary was special and singular in history. Among all women, she was the chosen vessel to bring forth the incarnated Son of God. However, in a certain manner, she is not all that special. She is merely another instance of how God finds a willing womb, plants Himself in it and brings forth something extraordinary. Please do not miss the following:
The miracle of Mary’s conception was not so much that it happened without a man. Rather, it was that it happened with God. There are some things that, even if they are willing, men cannot do. This is not a put down of men. It is an exaltation of God.
Anytime heaven and humans connect and conceive, whatever results is a child of God. Make no mistake about it. Its shape may be human, but its source is heavenly. That scientific breakthrough may come out of the brain of a genius, but its other worldly wisdom makes it a child of God. God uses the brush of the master artist to paint a master piece and what appears on the canvas is a child of God. God uses the eyes of an architect to see a skyscraper on a vacant lot and what results is a child of God. God commandeers the fingers of an author and through those fingers types out a Pulitzer Prize winning novel and that book is a child of God. God plays melodies in the ears of a musician and that Grammy Award caliber tune is a child of God. God calls a reluctant man or woman into service and the life changing ministry which subsequently emerges is a child of God.
God is looking for more Marys who will conceive His “babies” and then give Him the credit as their Father. Let there be no mistake about it. If you are willing: “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing (not necessarily a person, but a holy thing) which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” That is miraculous!
