Meeting in the Office of the Soul

Meeting in the Office of the Soul

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul…” – Matthew 22: 37

The heart is the center of our emotions. The soul is the center of our will. It is the life force deep within us which directs, decides and, in many cases, dictates what we do. Of course, the soul communicates with the heart, the mind and the body.

Sometimes, it is overruled by any one of these three. Still, when a critical decision must be made or a challenging action must be taken, the inner conversation about it between the heart, the mind and the body takes place in the office of the soul.

It is the headquarters of our habits. It is at the base of our behavior. It is the energy which backs up our beliefs. It is not only the center of our life, it is the very thing which summarizes and characterizes our life. No wonder, God wants to be in on that!

To the commandment that we love God with all of our heart, Jesus adds that we must also love God with all of our soul. That means that when a meeting is held in the office of the soul between the heart, the mind and the body, God is supposed to be invited to be present at the meeting. God is allowed to speak at the meeting. God presides over the meeting. God has the final say on any resolutions which out of that meeting.

As a result, the directions, the decisions and dictates which come out of our soul are first filtered through our God before they come out of our mouth in words or through our bodies in behavior.
