Haitians are reaching a breaking point. As violent gangs continue to tighten their grip on the nation, entire communities are being displaced. People are fleeing their homes not because they want to, but because they have no other choice. Once-stable neighborhoods are now war zones, with fear replacing peace and chaos replacing order. Amid the growing instability, frustration has spilled into the streets. Widespread demonstrations are erupting across the country—not simply out of politics or protest, but out of deep, collective grief. These protests reflect a desperate cry for help, a longing for relief, and an aching hope that God would somehow step in and change the course of this seemingly endless nightmare. As one ministry worker, Pastor Cator, explains, the people are weary and discouraged. “They just pray that God will intervene and do something with Haiti, with all these gangs, because they can’t stand it anymore.”
TEL International has been working in Haiti for years, faithfully walking alongside communities in both good times and bad. But the current wave of violence is unlike anything the ministry has seen before. “This is the first time we’ve ever seen anything like this in Haiti,” Pastor Cator says, pointing to the unprecedented scale of unrest. Yet even in the face of such turmoil, TEL International refuses to turn away. Their commitment remains firm: they will not abandon Haiti. That unwavering presence means everything to the people. While the world may look away, TEL continues to show up. The organization’s presence, rooted in faith and love, is a tangible reminder to the Haitian people that they are not forgotten. God is really holding our ministry team together so we can continue to help the Haitian people. And that is a big thing for them: knowing we will always be there for them.”
In practical terms, this faithfulness looks like food assistance for children at the schools TEL supports—small acts of mercy that carry immense weight in times of crisis. These efforts are not only about survival; they are about preserving dignity, offering hope, and being a consistent light in the darkest of times. Now more than ever, Haiti needs prayer. Pray for peace to replace violence. Pray for strength and healing for those who are suffering. Pray for the discouraged to find renewed hope. And above all, pray that God would intervene in a powerful way—turning chaos into order, despair into joy, and restoring Haiti to a nation of beauty, strength, and thriving once again.
