Mozambique is one of the many African nations where daily hardship is a constant reality, yet it is also a place where the Christian church continues to grow with inspiring resilience. As new believers are reached and congregations expand, a significant challenge persists across the continent: pastors and ministry leaders often lack access to the theological education they need to guide their churches effectively. Many serve faithfully with limited resources, minimal training, and few opportunities to deepen their understanding of Scripture or Christian doctrine.
To meet this ongoing need, TEL International has launched a dedicated initiative known as Theological Education by Extension. This program was created to strengthen and equip church leaders who are eager to grow but unable to pursue traditional, residential theological studies. Instead of expecting pastors to leave their ministries, families, and communities to attend a distant institution, the program reverses that model by bringing the training directly to them. This approach allows leaders to continue their work while gaining the tools they need to shepherd their congregations with greater biblical depth and confidence.
Through this innovative extension program, participants receive training in essential areas of theology, helping them build a strong doctrinal foundation. They gain a richer and more accurate understanding of the Word of God, enabling them to teach and preach with clarity. Most importantly, they grow in their personal knowledge of God, developing a deeper relationship with Him as they lead others. By meeting leaders where they are, both physically and spiritually, TEL International is strengthening the church from within, ensuring that the growing body of Christ in Mozambique and across Africa is guided by prepared, grounded, and empowered leaders.
