Gender Equality and Health Empowerment

Despite improvements in access to education, many children find themselves in inadequate facilities with poorly supported teachers. Social norms mean women are expected to drop out of school at a young age to support their family, and a lack of access to quality healthcare further hinders their ability to break the poverty cycle.

TEL International and its partners are committed to providing structured vocational training, healthcare, and gender-equality workshops to women, that help improve their financial independence and allows freedom of choice and an alternative to the expected path of dependence. Support will be given to a sufficient number of local women and girls to secure economic and social achievements that change their lives and act as catalysts/exemplars for influence and change across the wider community.

This program removes key barriers, economic or social, that prevent women and children from achieving social justice, equality, and a dignified standard of living. Access to quality education, the diversification of the vocational skills, and the promotion of good health and well-being of women and children increasing their opportunities and incomes. The project will phase over to the community and the collaborative partners, once they feel prepared to continue independently.
