More than 1200 People Dead after Earthquake Strikes Haiti

The Haitian government declared a state of emergency after at least 1,297 people died and more than 5,700 people were injured in a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the country Saturday morning. According to our partners in Haiti, medicines and surgical supplies is their biggest urgency.

There are “a lot of people coming in – a lot of people,” according to an administrator at the Hopital Saint Antoine. “We don’t have enough supplies”. Those who needed urgent special care, were evacuated to other facilities across the island. More patients are expected to be evacuated today and tomorrow.
