A Lifeline for a Ghanaian Community

Safe drinking water and proper sanitation are fundamental to human health, dignity, and development. Yet in Tanfiano—a village in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana Africa—these basic necessities remain out of reach for many. Poorly functioning water systems have left countless communities vulnerable to waterborne diseases, particularly diarrheal illnesses that continue to place a heavy burden on families and the nation’s already fragile healthcare infrastructure.

Globally, more than a million children die each year from unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the situation is no different. Far too many children suffer from preventable illnesses, forcing them to miss school and further jeopardizing their chances for a healthy and productive future. The ripple effects are profound: weakened health systems, reduced school enrollment, and cycles of poverty that persist for generations.

At TEL International we believe that access to clean water, proper sanitation, healthcare, and education is not a privilege—it’s a basic human right. Our mission is to break the barriers that prevent children and families from accessing these vital services by providing safe, reliable water sources and sanitation facilities to schools, health centers, and underserved communities.

Our initiative includes the installation of clean water systems in public schools and rural health facilities, ensuring that students and patients alike have access to safe water. In schools where toilet facilities are lacking or unusable, we will construct new, hygienic restrooms and rehabilitate existing ones that are in poor condition. We will also train caretakers to maintain these facilities, promoting a clean and safe learning environment for every child. The long-term impact of this work is transformative. By reducing water-related illnesses and minimizing school absences caused by preventable diseases, we can dramatically improve health outcomes and educational attainment. When children are healthy and present in school, their chances of survival, growth, and success increase significantly—not only academically, but also socially and emotionally, as they gain the stability, confidence, and life skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Our current goal is to serve at least 2,000 individuals—providing them with access to clean drinking water and improved sanitation facilities. This milestone is just the beginning of a broader vision to uplift entire communities by addressing one of the most pressing public health challenges of our time. Through partnership, commitment, and compassion, we can bring clean water—and hope—to those who need it most.
