I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4: 13)
Here are ten words to keep on the tip of your tongue. Whenever you are attacked by the adversary or find yourself facing the impossible, recite these ten words to yourself out loud: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
They were first penned by Paul who readily admits that he wasn’t always able to say them. First of all, he notes that this was an acquired aptitude because it was something he had to learn.
“Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.” (v. 12)
Then, it represents a can do attitude. I am not in the habit of defeating myself before I even begin. I set out on a task with the attitude that even though it may be difficult to do, this is something I can do.
“I can do all things . . .” (v. 13)
Finally, it is based on Christian fortitude. He doesn’t do this in his own strength. He confidently asserts:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
No matter what the adversity, say these words, believe these words, live these words and by the power of Christ you will prevail.
