The circumstances of the Lord’s birth cast a cloud over Mary, Joseph and Him. Everybody in town could count to nine. They knew that Jesus showed up way too early to have been conceived after Mary and Joseph were married. Not to mention the rumors that Joseph wasn’t His real father anyway.

Under such a cloud, not even her cousin Elizabeth dared to give Mary a baby shower. Perhaps, everyone was thinking: “Let’s just keep it hush, hush, get the baby born and be done with it!” However, the Wise Men did not get the memo. As soon as they showed up, they basically announced: “We got our invitation from the star. We have come bearing gifts. So, let the shower begin!”

If you had just given birth, wouldn’t you like to have people like these Wise Men to come to your baby’s shower? They did not bring a bunch of baby stuff like diapers, rattles, mobiles and booties. They bought some serious stuff. Like gold, frankincense and myrrh. Hello!

You may ask, what is a baby going to do with gifts like that? Invest them. Save them! And begin His little life rich! Wise Men know that it is easier for a person to become wealthy if they begin working on it at birth!
