So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10: 17)

This text is good news to those who may be doubtful and despondent because it says that faith comes! At your lowest point you may not think you will ever believe. At your darkest hour you may not feel that you will ever trust again, but faith does come. How does faith come? It comes by hearing the word of God.

Faith comes by hearing the assurances of the written word (the Bible) read into the ears of your mind. Faith comes and is built by hearing the preached word of God. The good news of the gospel inspires faith and instills faith. Faith comes by hearing the confirmation of the word of God through the testimonies of the saints. It is no secret what God can do. What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you.

Whenever your faith meter is leaning on “empty,” rush to read the word of God, hear the gospel and listen to testimonies of those who are strong in it.
