Faith that Works

Faith that Works

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble. But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? (James 2: 18-20)

When it’s working, nothing works for you like faith. When it’s not working, nothing weakens you like the lack of or loss of faith. Therefore, the question is not whether we have faith or works. Nor, is the question whether we have faith and works. What we require is faith that works!

We know our faith works when it is transformed from a mere affirmation into action. We know our faith works when we not only see visions, but we see results. We know our faith works when it puts doubt to death before it can destroy our hopes and dreams. We know our faith works when it functions under fire.

The writer of James is right. “Faith without works is dead.” He might also have added: “Faith that doesn’t work is useless.” How’s your faith working today?
