TEL International is helping to create a nurturing environment for 150 children in Kenya who were once living on the streets, helping them flourish through access to education, healthcare, and life skills training, as well as vocational and entrepreneurial opportunities. This program is designed to be inclusive and gender-sensitive, ensuring that all children, including girls, benefit equally. Separate clubs are designated for boys and girls, where they can learn about healthy relationships, self-esteem, and gender equality. Every child in the program is given the tools and support to realize their full potential.
In Africa, there are 50 million orphaned or abandoned children, and in Kenya, children make up over half the population. Many of these young people face deep challenges and lack opportunities, yet they also embody great hope for the future. Through residential and educational services, this program provides a comprehensive support system for children from as young as six years old, guiding them through childhood and into adulthood. The goal is to help them develop the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to lead fulfilling lives and contribute positively to their communities.
The programs include access to a medical clinic, psychosocial support, and enriching activities like sports, arts, and a nature club. Beyond academics and vocational training, we also provide gender-sensitive education in entrepreneurship and life skills. Empowering girls with education and confidence is especially important, as it benefits not only the individual but also their future families and society at large. The aim of this ministry is to help these children become healthy, productive members of their communities, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to thrive in every aspect of their lives.
