Medical missions is ‘booming’ that is to say, it would be, if there were enough doctors and health professionals serving on the mission field. The need for workers outweighs the number of people available, and that is where the problem lies. Despite these challenges medical missions is critical in many places in order to begin ministry.
The challenge of getting missionary doctors, nurses, or an intern is getting increasingly difficult. In this country, many people, when they finish medical school, have large debts and it seems once they get established, it’s just very hard to get people willing to go out and commit to the work. Fortunately, things are changing because of short term missions, which provides opportunities for doctors, health professional and students to engage in medical missions.
