TEL International is partnering with local African mission movements to equip a new generation of gospel workers who are committed to reaching the unreached in Ghana and throughout the African continent. By investing in indigenous leaders, the ministry is helping establish a sustainable, locally led movement of church planting and discipleship. As one African mission leader shared, the Church Planting Movement (CPM) Training Initiative provides the practical tools and biblical principles needed to effectively plant churches and multiply disciples.
The vision is to follow the pattern established by the early church in the book of Acts. Mission teams proclaim the gospel, lead people to faith in Jesus Christ, gather new believers into local fellowships, and nurture them into healthy, functioning churches. Rather than creating long-term dependence on outside leadership, the goal is to develop indigenous leaders who will shepherd their communities and continue expanding God’s Kingdom by planting new churches.
The church planting strategy emphasizes a simple yet powerful process: model, equip, watch, and leave. As experienced leaders demonstrate biblical ministry, train emerging leaders, observe them as they apply what they have learned, and then entrust the work to them, a culture of spiritual multiplication is established. This reproducing DNA enables disciples to make disciples and churches to plant daughter churches that continue spreading the gospel across communities and generations. In addition to leadership development, TEL International demonstrates the love of Christ through compassionate ministry. By providing medical care, improving access to clean water, and meeting other practical needs, ministry teams build meaningful relationships within local communities. These acts of service create natural opportunities to share the hope of the gospel through chronological Bible studies, introducing spiritually seeking Ghanaians to the redemptive story of God’s love in Jesus Christ.
