From the very beginning of Creation, every part of God’s handiwork has responded to His command and declared His glory. The animals of the earth, the plants of the field, the mountains and valleys, and even the minerals beneath the surface all bear witness to the greatness of their Creator. In their own way, creation fulfills the purpose for which God made it—reflecting His power, wisdom, beauty, and majesty.
The one notable exception is humanity. Man, God’s crowning achievement and a uniquely precious part of His creation, was given the extraordinary gift of free will. Yet rather than remaining in the perfect fellowship and paradise God provided, humanity chose its own path and turned away from God’s perfect will. Sin disrupted the harmony that God intended between humanity and creation.
Yet the call to praise remains. The psalmist reminds us that all creation continually declares the glory of God and calls us to join its chorus of praise. The heavens proclaim His greatness, the earth displays His handiwork, and every living thing bears witness to His creative power. If creation can fulfill its purpose by declaring the glory of its Creator, how much more should we, whom God created in His image, willingly lift our hearts, voices, and lives in worship?
Let us join with all creation in giving God the praise He deserves. May our lives testify to His goodness, our words proclaim His greatness, and our worship reflect our gratitude for the One who created us and continues to sustain us.
