PR, Marketing, and Community Leader Joins Our Team

We are excited to welcome Terry Allen to our team! Mr. Allen is an award-winning journalist, public relations expert, and marketing leader. He currently serves as Vice President of Focus PR, a cultural engagement PR firm specializing in cause-related marketing for small business startups, nonprofits, and community-based organizations (CBOs).

Terry has an impressive track record of leadership and service. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) as the Media Relations Board Member, is a member of the National Black Public Relations Society (NBPRS), and was the charter president of the NBPRS Dallas Chapter. Additionally, Terry has served on the Board of Directors for the Sports and Entertainment MBA program at the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management. He is also an alumnus of Southern Methodist University, University of Texas at Dallas, and the American Institute of Banking.

As a Sales Executive at FedEx, Terry’s remarkable achievements include mentoring new hires, being inducted into the prestigious Presidents Club in 2015, and receiving FedEx’s highest honor, the Five Star Award. He has also received multiple accolades, including the 2018 Person of Inspiration Award, the Living PSP Award (FedEx Cares), and seven MVP Awards, among others.

As the CEO of 1016 Media, Terry has forged strong client and community partnerships with major organizations such as Dr. Phil, Shark Tank, Essence, Black Enterprise Magazine, Upscale Magazine, Bronner Brothers, Inc., OWN, My Brother’s Keeper, and many more. He is the founder of SISTER CEO, the largest small business boot camp for women CEOs, and City Men Cook, an annual culinary celebration benefiting local charities in North Texas.

Terry is also a best-selling co-author of Real Men Cook: Rites, Rituals, and Recipes for Living (Simon and Schuster), with a foreword by former President Barack Obama. He currently serves as a small business columnist for newspapers across the country, including Fort Worth Black News, Texas Metro News, Garland Journal, and I-Messenger. His professional experience also includes roles as Public Information Officer for the City of Dallas, Managing Editor at the Dallas Examiner, and Director of Business Development & Marketing at the Business Assistance Center (BAC5), where he helped create over 52 new business owners and launched several successful programs.

Terry’s numerous accolades include multiple inductions into Who’s Who in Dallas since 2015, recognition as one of the “Top 10 Events of 2015” by Examiner.com for City Men Cook, and the Salute to Excellence (STE) Award for Public Relations and Cause-Related Marketing by NABJ. He is also a sought-after national speaker, having presented at prominent events such as the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show, NABJ, Essence College on Tour, and more.

Terry’s dedication to community service is equally impressive, with involvement in organizations like the African American Museum, St. Philips Community School, Women Called Moses, March of Dimes, Texas Tenants Union, and many others.
