So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17: 20)

Jesus says: “if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” But, what kind of faith is “faith as a mustard seed?”

Mustard seed faith is faith that is small in size, but huge in potential. When you look at a mustard seed, you only see the seed. You don’t see the tree that has already been preprogrammed inside of it. Mustard seed faith is faith that grows over time. It is not all that it is going to be when you first encounter it. It understands that it will develop into its destiny over time.

Mustard seed faith is faith like Brylcream – “a little dab will do you.” Mustard seed faith is not little faith. It is faith that is so powerful that you only need a little. What Jesus is telling you here is that if your faith is, indeed, true and pure, you really don’t need much to do the impossible.
