Called the “Pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill, Uganda lies on the equator where the East African savannah meets the West African jungle. It is a country saturated in color and a variety of landscapes that have stirred inspiration in travelers and residents for eons. Warm weather, welcoming people, breathtaking scenery, and vast national parks make Uganda a country not to be missed. You’ll also find incredibly diverse wildlife, the largest remaining mountain gorilla population, and easily view the big five (leopards, hippopotamus, lions, buffaloes, elephants). Despite its physical beauty, Uganda is still a country of great need, with many orphans, street children, and areas of extreme poverty. The economy is improving, but Uganda remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Although God is awakening the church to action, poverty is still rampant in Uganda, and lack of governmental funds to assist the unemployed perpetuates the cycle of poverty. Though 84% of Ugandans identify as Christians, there is a real need for sound doctrine and authentic Christian leadership across the country.

While on the ground serving in Uganda you can worship alongside a local church and participate by providing music, sermons, short-exhortations, teaching, testimonies, or help lead Sunday School or VBS. Provide medical services and support to the community and healthcare system as well as nutrition awareness and general counseling on health issues. Lead devotions, tutor students, observe classes, help teachers with arts and crafts, games, storytelling, singing or participate in recess. Use sports or group games for building relationships and sharing the gospel; or work alongside a local builder on various projects from painting, roofing, cement work, tiling, landscaping or whatever projects are needed in the community.

Whether you are a college student, teacher, doctor, member of a professional organization or someone looking to travel with friends and family our staff will work with you to ensure that your unique gifts will be used to meet a real need while you are on the ground serving in Uganda.
