All Christ Wants for Christmas

All Christ Wants for Christmas

And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child… – Matthew 2:8a

One day, I humbly asked the Lord in prayer: “What do you want for Christmas?” Believe it or not, here is how He answered me. “If you desire to know what I want for Christmas, go to Matthew 2:1-12 and you will find my Christmas list there.” Sure enough when I turned there, right before my eyes I saw His list. The first item on the list is: “I want people to diligently seek me.”

There are many people then and now who are interested in Jesus. They are curious about Christ. They are even fascinated by His miracles, but they are not diligently seeking Him. They casually seek Him as if finding Him was no matter of urgency. They seek Him lackadaisically as if they have forever to find Him. They seek Him haphazardly as if His whereabouts could be ascertained by a process of hit or miss. They seek Him spasmodically as if He could be found with on and off action.

The Wise Men in this passage prove that the only way to find Jesus is to diligently seek Him. They didn’t have much to go on. Only the beams of a star in the midnight sky. However, their desire to find Him and their diligence to keep searching until they did, landed them at His feet.

Christ is invisible, but He is not in hiding. He still can be found by those who diligently seek Him.
